Background
Lydia Kyasht was a soloist at the Maryinsky Theatre (now the Kirov), then settled in London in 1908. She danced with Nijinsky and gave the first performance of Fokine's 'The Swan', made further famous by Pavlova. She retired in 1933 and formed the Lydia Kyasht Russian Ballet, 1939-1946.
