Background
The Bathroom Door. A Farce in One Act is a play written by Gertrude E. Jennings in 1916. In it a prima donna, a young man, an old man, an old lady, and a young lady are all trying to get into a bathroom in a hotel. The door will not open, and at last the prima donna declares that her husband, with whom she has had a quarrel, must have locked himself in the bathroom and done away with himself.HMS Repulse was one of two Renown-class battlecruisers built for the Royal Navy during the First World War. The future King Edward VIII was a passenger on the battlecruiser during a royal tour in the 1920s. Lieutenant Commander G. A. Youle was an officer who served aboard the ship. It was famously sunk by Japanese air attack on December 10th 1941, off the coast of Malaya, an event that resulted in the loss of 840 men.
