BLACKWOOD
(Price, 1794-1841, 4th Baron Dufferin and Claneboye, Captain in the Royal Navy)
Autograph Letter Signed to Major Newton
saying that the “state of agitation of the publick mind respecting the affairs of this Country induce Lady Dufferin and myself to decide to be in London this spring as we cannot be as well circumstanced in accommodation as in our own house, though the rate you mention and the prospect of a favorable tenant might be desireable yet under the uncertainty of obtaining the rate, & the gently man you expect, we consider it fair to you at once to decline entering into an arrangement that might induce trouble to you and not secure advantage to us, we are obliged by your attention in offering to procure a tenant in the event of our deciding not to occupy our house this season, & when we decide upon the tie of our going to town we shall give notice for preparations...”, 2 sides 8vo., Ballyleidy, 25th February
