Background
Walker served in the Turkish Navy, 1838-1845, where he was known as 'Yavir Pasha', and distinguished himself at the capture from Mehemet Ali of St. Jean d'Acre. In the Royal Navy he was C-in-C the Cape, 1861-1864, and at Sheerness.
