(1901-1983, King of the Belgians 1934-1951, abdicated in favour of eldest son) and his first wife ASTRID (1905-1935, niece of Gustav V of Sweden)]
Charming Postcard photo, unsigned, of the wedding couple, by Jaeger,
showing them seated, he in uniform looking at his bride, she with a myrtle crown, headdress and train, after their civil wedding in the Throne Room at Stockholm, 5½ x 3½, 4th November
Leopold left shortly after from Gothenburg to Ostend, while his bride followed in the 'Fylgia' from Malmö to Antwerp. Leopold was waiting on the quay with an immense crowd who cheered wildly when he embraced her, the religious ceremony following two days later.
