Background
An early signature, before blindness compelled Macfarren to use an assistant. After the signature, an early hand has altered the 'Mr' of the addressee's name to 'Macf' and 'Hunt' apparently to 'Hunter', and added on the back 'the Composer of the Devills Opera'.
