Background
Fuad was the son of Ismail Pasha, Khedive 1863-1879. On the latter's deposition by the Sultan of Turkey, Egypt came under British administration while its finances were restored. Fuad was brought up in Italy and maintained a strong connection with that country, speaking better Italian than Arabic.On the verso in Italian are pencilled some names and a note No one was called to the telephone.
