Background
The interest was to be paid from the two thirds tonnage and poundage on wines and merchandizes imported, and the document is endorsed Ent[ered] Tunnag[e]. Sir Richard was a son of Sir Josiah, governor of the East India Company. In 1715 Sir Richard built Wanstead House, famous for its enormous 260ft frontage.
