Background
Coffin, born in Boston, Mass., of a famous sea-faring family, was disabled by accident when rescuing a drowning seaman in 1790, but became Commissioner in Corsica, Minorca, Halifax, N.S., and Sheerness. He was a close friend of Nelson (see his letters to Nelson in the British Library). The amount of Junk has been reduced, there is a contemporary pencil note 10 cwt of Junk will do. Brooms 24 has also been crossed out.
