(M.W., Schoolmaster)
Autograph Letter Signed to Robert Bellamy Clifton, 1836-1921, later F.R.S.,
for 50 years Professor of Experimental Philosophy at Oxford and the designer and director of the Clarendon laboratory, 1865-1915, congratulating him on your name appearing so honorably in print... I wish we could take any credit to ourselves at Church Hill but I think your best school has been at home, advising him to take a break for his health's sake, You see I am still in the lecturing line... I should think a paper on phosphorus, phosphorescent exhalations, Will o' the Wisp... by Robert Bellamy Clifton Esq would have won a gold medal and thanks of the College, with a request... that it might be published, the writer has at last made a start for himself as a tutor, I shall be obliged... if you will make it known, and hopes to come to town for a chat over old times, 4 sides 8vo., 8 Brunswick Road, Western Road, Brighton, 5th July
