Background
Wilhelm II was Queen Mary's 'Uncle Willy'. She was related to him by the morganatic marriage of her grandfather, but for which her father, the 1st Duke of Teck, would have succeeded in 1891. Wilhelm II had no sons, and the princes in the photograph descended from Alexander, a much younger brother of Friedrich II & I (first King of Württemberg, 1805).Kiderlen-Wächter was Foreign Secretary at the time of the Agadir incident. Negotiating with France, he managed to keep Germany's intentions vague until the French secured a declaration that Germany was not interested in Morocco.
