Background
Bert Gunn was the first northern editor of the Daily Express, and then came down to London. He coined the headline about Hitler It's that man again !, taken up by Tommy Handley. Beaverbrook moved him to the Standard in 1944. Later, a fundamental clash emerged - Gunn wanted a popular paper, Beaverbrook something for the City and West End, and in 1952 Gunn resigned.
