Autograph letter signed to 'Dear Sir',
giving a detailed report on a box of early 18th century counters, bearing busts or full lengths of British Sovereigns, Charles I is a wretched performance... I should think... of the time of Queen Anne, when there were medals struck of Charles & a kind of revival of his memory. The bust counters are rarer than the full lengths, detailing the duplicates or missing in his correspondent's set, comparing the Museum's holdings, and saying £20 would be too high even for a perfect set... the gilt set you mention was unusually fine, 3 sides 7 x 4½, British Museum, 19th March
