Background
In the Russo-Japanese war of 1904-1905, Grand Duchess Elisabeth ('Ella'), the Tsarina's elder sister, filled the palace at the Kremlin with nurses and helpers, on behalf of whom this card was sold.With a message on the verso in French to a teacher at the Lycée Louis le Grand, rue St Jacques, Paris, postmarked St Petersburg 4th June 1904, red 4 kopeck stamp.
