Background
Princess Cecilie's mother was also of the Hesse-Darmstadt family on both sides, being the daughter of Prince Louis of Battenberg and Princess Victoria Alberta of Hesse. Tragically, Princess Cecilie died flying to her husband's brother's wedding in London, with all the rest of the family except daughter Johanna, who was too young to go.
