(successor to Thiele of Darmstadt), showing them full length, full face, in belted infantry officers' coats and caps, Ludwig grasping his sword hilt, neat letter on the verso via 'Field Post' to Trumpeter Eugen Stöpler of the 74th Foot Artillery, on anti-aircraft duty in Ebersweier, (keeping watch across the Rhine above Strassburg), with translation, the postcard sold for the benefit of the Hessian Red Cross Association and the Princess Alice Women's Union, (recalling the Grand Duke's mother, daughter of Queen Victoria), 5½ x 3½, postmarked Ortenberg, Hesse, 27th May
