Background
King Gustaf VI Adolf was a distinguished scholar and authority on Chinese art and archaeology. In 1905 he married Princess Margaret of Connaught (1882-1920) and they set about creating a wonderful garden at Sofiero, famous for its thousands of species of rhododendron, meticulously recorded. From Princess Alice's own collection.
