Typed Letter Signed to O[r]merod Greenwood,
at the Westminster Theatre, Palace Street, S.W.1., thanking him for inviting me to give an address at one of your Sunday evening meetings in the Group Theatre, but regretting my journalistic work keeps me too busy just now to enjoy such pleasant diversions, 1 side 8vo., 3 Rodborough Road, Golders Green, N.W.11., 19th February
Item Date: 1936
Background
Rupert Doone, John Ormerod Greenwood, the painter Charles Medley and others founded the Group Theatre in 1932 for left-wing and avant-garde plays in London. At this time Auden and Isherwood's 'The Dog Beneath the Skin' had had a stormy passage through the Lord Chamberlain's office, which had to evaluate its satire on Church and State and also its anti-Nazi propaganda, a subject close to Low's heart.
