GUINNESS
(Sir Alec, 1914-2000, Actor)
Fine Autograph Letter Signed to A.W. Price,
of the Department of English, University of Malaya, saying he seems to remember suggesting, at Stratford Ontario, that if the [thrust] stage was another 15 or 18 inches wider, or deeper, that it would feel more comfortable... (purely a matter of instinct), with a similar comment about the Crucible, easily the best... of the thrust stage theatres... and, yes, as Richard III at Stratford Ont... I... sat dangling my legs over the edge of the balcony, however ... I am no longer greatly in sympathy with the thrust and arena stages, though I feel the 'traverse' stage has something to offer, he begs Price not to send him 'Flower of Cities', as he loosely put together a duologue about London and did it with Miss Irene Worth... at... Aldeburgh... a few weeks ago... I am sure I would be jealous and tempted to plagiarise... , with a carbon copy of Price's original letter about his forthcoming 'Forethrust and Arena Staging', 2 sides 4to., Sir Alec's letter 2 sides A4, 40 Smith Square, Westminster, W.1., 14th August
