Background
The Princess's marriage, arranged by the Empress Auguste, was stormy, owing to Joachim's rakish habits and gambling debts. The couple were divorced in 1920 shortly before Prince Joachim's suicide. Prince Franz Joseph's first wife, (1940 at Doorn), was Henriette, step daughter of his grandfather Kaiser Wilhelm II.
