Background
Acland took a leading part in establishing the Oxford Local Examinations, 1857-1858. He promoted the extension of the Bath and West of England Show, edited the Journal of the Royal Agricultural Society for 7 years, and was one of the 2 original trustees of Ruskin's Guild of St. George, 1871.
