Background
The review was the culmination of celebrating the 250 years of the regiment since 1689, when 1000 men were recruited in Edinburgh in 4 hours. Among those here with the Duchess are Lord Provost Steele, in plumed hat, and Major-General Sir Edward Broadbent, Colonel. See The Times for 29th July 1939.
