Background
Laurence first appeared on the stage in 1893 in F.R. Benson's company. He later appeared at the Lyceum with his father, Sir Henry, for whom he wrote Peter the Great, (1898), which is mentioned in an early note on the verso, and translated Robespierre (1899).
