Background
The Trinacria (1883-1925, built by Thompson's of Clydebank, Italian Royal Yacht, 1900) was in its time, at 142 metres by 15 metres, the largest (and probably sleekest) royal yacht in the world.In 1913 the King and Queen of Italy attended the annual regatta at Kiel. Vittorio Emanuele and Kaiser Wilhelm II met and discussed, so it was reported, the ongoing Balkan War. After Kiel the Trinacria went up the Baltic to Stockholm.
