with translation, to Dear Rollêt, Mme Rollande, French governess to Queen Victoria's children, saying he hopes her husband is getting better, he was so sad to learn that he had been ill and hopes he will soon be cured. Background
'Mr Tyler' is Alfred Tylor, (1824-1884, F.G.S., the geologist and brass-founder, of Shepley House, Carshalton), whose wife Isabella (c. 1823-1906, née Harris, married 1850) was a friend of the Royal Family. Mr Tylor travelled widely in France, Italy and Spain for both scientific and business purposes.
