Background
On the trade plate are the initials CJCEB, that is Charles Jones Basebe (1818-1880) and his son Charles Edward Basebe (b. circa 1846), Artists & Photographers. Charles is best known as a painter of cricketing scenes, but had also painted Prince Albert.
