(1878-1961, Painter) signed, inscribed and dated on the mount 'For Mrs. Pringle from one sitter to the other, William Nicholson', showing him in a studio setting but in an unconventional pose - though indoors he wears a greatcoat, is in near profile but looks almost suspiciously at the viewer, has a picture balanced on one knee in his right hand, and a cane at a restless angle in his left, two framed pictures are propped against his chair, 7¾ x 5¾ on mount framed and glazed 11¼ x 9¼, no place, the inscription dated June
