Background
Beautifully engraved, probably by the French Jean-Alexandre Alais [or Allais, 1792-1850] and after a drawing by John Partridge (1789-1872). The magazine displayed the latest fashions from London and Paris. The 'Royalty' plates emphasised the personality of the sitter and their restrained good taste.
